I stopped by The Core Scottsdale today to see their apartment units and I was quite impressed. The Core is a very nice upscale property and it’s well taken care of. I absolutely love the swimming pool area that’s located on the rooftop with breathtaking scenic views of the valley. Quite impressive. The property looks well maintained and the apartment units are very nice and upgraded. I was given a very thorough tour of the entire Core property by leasing consultant Morgan Meyer. She did a superb job showing me the entire property and explaining all the different amenities they offer at the Core. She answered all my leasing questions. Thank you Morgan for a great tour. Mark Taylor properties is lucky to have nice friendly staff members like you!
The leasing staff is verry nice (and pretty). The property looks good from what I've seen, although it seems like the maintenance could use some help. They always seem to be busy, and other than that their super helpful. (Ps love the pool and view)
Scott was a great help. He fixed what he was asked to, and went above and beyond. Not only did he replace our water filter, he fixed my towel rack, helped with my sink drain, and tightened my sink handle.
The big downside with this place is all the corporate apartments that are being run as AirBNBs, probably about half of the hall I lived in. You can find the place listed on the website!!!! Although management will state that you can’t rent out your own apartment as a AirBNB but I guess if you rent it out as a business you can do what you want 🙄. Lots of new people with suitcases all the time wandering the halls asking directions and treating the place like a hotel rather than a place where people actually live. Kids running down the halls, people coming back late being loud and drunk in the hallways, you get the idea.
Also a big issue with people leaving their trash in the hallways all the time which in the summer means the hallways always smell like rotting trash and leak into to the hallway carpet, gross 🤢. Plus the valet trash service is always dragging the leaking trash through the hallways. The Pool is always shut down for repairs, everyone speeds in the parking garage and almost causes accidents, so many issues with people not disposing of pet waste correctly or bringing glass to the pool (literally almost every other communication from management), and lots of lost packages. Cell service is non-existent and will drop if you are not near a window. Plus very limited guest parking if you have anyone visit so people just let them into the parking garage that is suppose to be secure and for tenants. Also they have some of the slowest elevators I have ever seen. Did I mention the cops are always here? Definitely don’t leave anything of value around here cause it will be gone!!!
It’s a nice place but expect to pay the equivalent of a mortgage to live in a hotel with a fashionable zip code. Lived here for 3 years and decided it would be a better idea to just buy a place. There is about $80-$100 in additional fees on top of your rent each month and your lease will raise about $250 each year for a 15 month lease (more for shorter terms) and its about $4000 to break your lease if you ever needed to. Plus a $75 charge if you lock yourself out after office hours because the keys are all electronic fobs.
The maintenance staff are great and probably deserve a raise, they were probably the best part of this complex but the office staff is really only interested in leasing new units and they respond less than half the time to emails and are impossible to reach over the phone. Gave me a super hard time when my electric fob stopped working due to a battery connection issue and was trying to get a new one after 2 years.
Beware with Costco next door it can be next to impossible on the weekends to turn out or into the complex. And the big parking lot in front of the complex is the overflow lot for the Tesla dealership so it can get sticky if they are using the big trailers to deliver vehicles. They have threatened to tow anyone that parks in their lot so beware. Also it’s fairly busy area because of all the stores so expect lots of traffic, noise, and activity while they are open plus the airport is nearby so you will hear planes.
The Core is a hidden gem honestly. I've only been here about a month but the entire process of touring, applying, moving in, and the subsequent first 4 weeks have been great. (Shoutout Morgan!)
I do feel, like most apartment complexes, the location of the unit you get can make a big world of difference. Especially if you work from home like me. However, if you can plan that out ahead of time based on what's available, you'll be well-off. (The back of a Home Depot is on one side of the building near some units. There's a Costco car wash on the backside near some units, etc.)
For me, I love going on outdoor walks. I'd say that's the only downside of The Core is the walkable paths/areas surrounding the location. The gym makes up for this! It's incredible and filled with name-brand TechnoGym equipment. The pool and other amenities speak for themselves.
I've only created one maintenance request so far, but just like the other Google reviews shows, David appeared at my door just a mere 2-3 hours later. Absolute legend!
Scott, you’re the man!
Came in and fixed the door, heater, water filter, and sink. He is a very genuine and awesome dude!
Give this man a bonus.
Merry Christmas Scott and wish nothing but great health and success for you and your daughter!

David has helped me many times on various things with my apartment over the last year or so. He is always thorough and makes sure to fix the issue as well as explain what I can do to keep the issue from happening. Love knowing I have someone that is dedicated and professional helping me. Keep it up!
David is a fantastic Core employee. He is always quick to respond, and both friendly and professional. He recently resolved 2 separate issues within the same week. It's always a pleasure to work with David.
